Can my dog take Endosorb for diarrhea and Proin for incontinence?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 1 year and 7 months old | 30 lbs

Is it okay to give Endosorb (for sudden extreme diarrhea) and Proin (potential spay incontinence) at the same time? She hasn’t started on either yet, we just got the Prion today and have Endosorb left over from a previous bout a few months ago.

I would like to get my dog evaluated to see if she would be eligible to be prescribed Proin, the medication that tightens the bladder sphincter muscle. Is Petco able to assist?
Hi there! I'm sorry to hear about Brittany's troubles. I am not sure if Petco has full veterinary services, as that is the appropriate avenue for eventually prescribing proin. When I see a dog for urinary incontinence issues, I start with a full blood and urine panel and a culture of the urine to rule out infections or any other health issues. I also will check the urinary bladder with an ultrasound and take a few xrays to make sure we don't have bladder or kidney stones, or cancer of some kind causing the incontinence. Once I've ruled out any other causes, and I know I need to use proin, I check a blood pressure to make sure that's normal too (because proin can cause side effecrs with that). I'll start a patient on the recommended dose and then recheck to make sure it's working. A couple weela after starting I'll usually check blood pressure, and then once more 4-6 weeks out. At that time I'll often check a mini panel and just double check some blood values. If all is well, i wi

Can Endosorb cause constipation in dogs? Romeo had loose stools for few days so vet prescribed it. He pooped only once yesterday and it was normal but kinda dry. Should he resume to more normal stool after use of Endosorb. Thank you
The ingredients in the product can definitely dry out the stool which may cause constipation. If the stool doesn't return to normal after finishing the course of it, or if it is becoming painful or causing severe constipation, I would let your vet know as they may want to change dosing or switch to a different product.

Hi there. PPA (phenylpropanolamine, or Proin) is a very common first-line choice for urinary incontinence in female dogs, and often works well in my experience. So it's likely that this could be a good option for Sofi, depending on whether she has any other underlying health issues to consider. Unfortunately, we cannot provide a prescription over the internet, as legally this has to be done by a veterinarian who has physically examined your pet. So I would recommend making an appointment with a veterinarian in your area to bring Sofi in for an exam. He/she can discuss medication options for urinary incontinence with you, and should be able to provide a prescription for whatever medication the two of you decide to try.

We mistakenly gave our 60 lb dog two 50mg proin tablets instead of one this evening. Is this dangerous for her??
Hi and thank you for using Boop by Petco. Allie received roughly around a 3.7 mg/kg dose of Proin. According to the ASPCA, dogs that ingested this much can be normal or they can have a slow heart right and high blood pressure. If Allie shows any signs of agitation or restlessness, vomiting, diarrhea or lethargy, I would take her into the emergency veterinarian tonight. She may need fluids and activated charcoal.

My 80 pound coonhound leaks. The vet said it was from the way she was spayed. She won't eat if I give her proem. She's is much worse in hot weather than cold, and when I have company. Do you have any suggestions on what else I can try?
I'm sorry to hear that Bijou has developed some leaking. Unfortunately we do see that in a number of spayed females. Proin is one of the most common medications that we will use for urinary incontinence, but there are several others that you can try as well. I would recommend calling your vet. They should be able to prescribe a different pain medication that may not upset her GI tract so much or they can give you medication to help treat the diarrhea and that will help her tolerate the meds better. Hello, thank you for your question about Isla. Proin is a potential option for treating urinary incontinence. I would recommend ensuring that Isla has completely cleared the UTI as incontinence can also be indicative of a residual UTI. If the infection has been cleared fully, I would recommend discussing the use of Proin with your veterinarian. Proin is a relatively safe medication that can be used short or long term to help with female incontinence. Hope this helps, good luck!

The vet thinks my 8 month old puppy has gastritis. This is her second round of metronidazole and gastrophate. she is also on multi flora. She still has diarrhea, can I give her something else tat would stop it?
Thank you for using Boop by Petco. I'm so sorry Libby isn't feeling well. I do not recommend any over the counter treatments for diarrhea for Libby. It may be helpful to discuss if feeding a prescription gastro intestinal diet would be recommended by her veterinarian. Often it can take time for GI inflammation to resolve and cure diarrhea. But if it is not resolving or has been going on for too long it may be stime to discuss doing further diagnostic testing with her vet. Some dogs may have pancreatic insuffeciency, malabsorption or food allergies that can cause chronic diarrhea. I hope she starts improving soon.

Senior dog has frequent urination & accidents. I was hoping for a medication for this. I know when I take antihistamines my need to urinate is reduced.
You are correct, Proin and DES are both medications that are commonly used to treat urinary incontinence in dogs. However, its possible that urinary tract infections, bladder stones, or bladder tumors could also cause these symptoms. Therefore, a visit to your vet for at least a urinalysis (urine test) is indicated. If no cause is found, then medication such as DES or Proin can be prescribed by your veterinarian.
