My dog got an extra dose of medicine. Is she going to be okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Pinscher | Female | spayed | 15 lbs

My 15lb dog was prescribed Vedamox C 250 (1/2 a tablet twice a day). There was a misunderstanding in my house, and she was give an extra 1/2 tablet 6 hours after her second one. My instinct when I found out was to give her an extra meal and some water to dilute it, although I don't know if that helps. I was also thinking of skipping her next 1/2 tablet tomorrow because of this. Any advice on what to do or what to watch out for would be helpful. Thank you!

No worries. If you gave this medication 6 hrs ahead of schedule, it is not going to cause any toxicity concerns whatsoever. You can presume her medication tomorrow morning since you already gave her two doses today, just one was a little earlier than recommended. Thanks for visiting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and take care of that fur baby Bailey moving forward. Take care.
