My dog woke up with one eye rolled up. What's wrong with her eye?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Anglo-Francais de Petite Venerie | Female | spayed | 12 years and 7 months old | 52 lbs

Savannah woke up like this - one eye rolled up in socket. What could have happened? She is otherwise a healthy 12-year old.

Hello and thank you for your question. I hate to hear Savannah woke up this way. I recommend to have her examined today by the veterinarian. There are a few things that could cause this and she needs a physical exam to begin figuring things out. She could have an injury to the eye or a foreign object trapped under the eye lid. She could have Horner's syndrome or damage to the cranial nerve. she could also have inflammation in the eye like uveitis causing this. Once she has an exam, the vet will be better able to determine the cause and thus any treatments available. I hope this helps and that Savannah gets straightened out quickly.
