Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 6 days old | 7 lbs
My 5 month Yorkie tested positive for Parvo in June 22nd. She was hospitalized from the 25th to the 28th. From the 28th to the 30th she was playful, eating and no vomiting. Then last night, she became lethargic, would not eat or drink water. She didn’t eat or drink from 8pm yesterday to today 3pm. She finally ate can wet food. But I took her to the vet. One of them gave her Pet-Tinic and the other gave her Doxycycline. But she’s already taking metronidazole. Is it safe to give her both?

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Doxycycline can be given with metronidazole at the same time but it may be worth to double-check with your vet why Molly should be taking both. Most of the dogs that are recovering from parvo take an antibiotic, but administering two antibiotics at the same time is usually not necessary. Pet-Tinic contains vitamins, iron and cooper, it is safe to give it to Molly with the other medications.
