Can I exercise my dog after she swallowed a stick and saw the vet

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 1 year and 6 months old | 30 lbs

We think my dog swallowed part of a stick last night (~23 hours ago). She’s been to the vet and they just said to watch out for symptoms of GI upset and give her a diet of boiled chicken, rice, and pumpkin for a few days. Is it okay to exercise her as normal? She is VERY active. Or should we take it easy for a few days just in case? Thank you!

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Ellie. You did absolutely the right thing by taking her into the vet. I think it's fine to exercise her as normal. If she is very active, follow her lead. She will let you know if she is feeling badly. I hope this helps!
