My cat keeps throwing up yellow foamy bile. When is it an emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | 10 lbs

Cat has thrown up what appears to be bile. Been three vomit episodes thus far. All in roughly 3 hour increments. Its not much vomit. Is a yellow/green color. It is foamy. Thought it could be a hairball but not sure now. Hasn't eaten thus far today, did give a small piece of chicken and he happily ate it but came back up last vomit. Picture attached is of last puke. All have looked this way. Appointment is set for tomorrow but curious if need to consider emergency vet today. Thank you!

It's good that Casper has an appointment tomorrow. I wouldn't consider it an emergency based on the info you provided. When I would consider it an emergency is if he becomes very lethargic, isn't interested in food at all, or if there is blood in the vomitus.
