My Shih Tzu puppy is sick, not eating, vomiting, hiding. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 19 days old | 6 lbs

My 4 month old Shih Tzu puppy named Skye has not been herself today. She woke up feeling fine but she did not poop which she always does. I fixed her food and water and she didn’t touch. She started hiding from me and I thought she had done something wrong. I called her and she and she wanted to hold her and I did. I put her down to make coffee. She then went and poop but it was loser and not much. She has not eaten nor drunk all day. She just wanted to be held. She threw up a little. What to do

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Skye. She is so cute! She sounds pretty sick, and I'm concerned she isn't eating or drinking, having diarrhea, and has now vomited. If she isn't fully vaccinated, parvo could be causing her symptoms. She is too sick to be treated at home, please take her into a vet immediately. Best of luck.
