My dog accidentally ate a human Dexilant pill. Should I be concerned?

I have my 85 lb dog a 60mg Dexilant pill. Will he be ok?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Hudson. He should be ok. While Dexilant isn't a drug regularly used in veterinary medicine, I found information that states "According to toxicity studies there was no effect from the drug on dogs when given at a dose of 5mg per kilogram (2.2 pounds) of body weight for several days in a row." With his weight of 85 pounds, there will be no issues. Just do not give him anymore. I hope this helps!

Hi and thanks for posting. I wouldn’t worry too much about this. Griffen consumed more towards the maximum dosage of this medication (4mg per kg of body weight) but he should be ok as long as he is not on any similar medications. He may have some gastrointestinal discomfort such as vomiting and diarrhea as a side effect of the medication. If he is on any similar medications, I would be sure and let us know so we can advise further. I hope this helps!

Hello. There is very little information on this product in veterinary medicine but based on information on similarly classed drugs, there should be little if any problems & is generally considered to be well tolerated. According to Plumb's Veterinary Formulary, Esomeprazole could potentially cause GI distress ( anorexia, colic, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea & C. diff. infections ) as well as rare hematologic & neurologic disturbances & urinary tract infections . Information on acute toxicity is also limited in veterinary medicine, but the LD50, or amount of this drug needed to kill 50% of rats administered this medication is greater than 4000mg per kg. Nugget consumed the equivalent of 7 mg per kg. So, I would just keep a good watch on Nugget. If she shows any GI signs, they should resolve on their own. If nothing is seen in the next 24 hours, you can stop worrying, but this one pill does not warrant any medical attention at this time. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

My dog accidentally ingested 20mg of Lexapro. He is a purebred 8yr old golden retriever and weighs about 80lbs. Should I be worried?! What should I do
Duke is 80lbs, so about 36.4kg. He ingested 0.55mg/kg of Lexapro. With doses as low as 0.3mg/kg, you can see incoordination and lethargy, although there is typically no toxic damage to organs. To be safe, if Duke ate the Lexapro within the past 2 hours, I would take him to your vet now to induce vomiting. If it's been longer than 2 hours, you will have to monitor him for signs of toxicity (tremors, incoordination, seizures, lethargy), and if you see any of those signs, take him to a vet right away.

Dog ate one 125 mg gasx tablet. Dog weighs about 15 pounds. Dr. Melanie answered, but needed to include dosage
Thank you for giving the dosage! So this amount is more than it recommended for a dog her size, but this medication is generally very safe and well tolerated at very high doses. You may see some loose stools as a result of this, but she should be fine. I hope this helps!

Hi there! Since Primo is 84 pounds (about 38 kilograms), 150 mg of Deramaxx would be a dose of about 4 mg/kg. This is within the approved label dosing range for this medication for short-term use, so it's unlikely that you will see any serious side effects related to this - especially since you were able to make him vomit within about an hour, so he probably vomited up at least part of the medication before it was fully absorbed. With any higher-than-normal dose of Deramaxx, it's always possible to see GI issues such as stomach upset or even gastric ulcers - so I would recommend monitoring Primo closely for the next few days to make sure that he's acting normal. If he has repeated episodes of vomiting (more than once or twice), doesn't want to eat, or begins acting lethargic, then I would recommend taking him to the vet right away to be checked out. If he normally takes Deramaxx daily, I would also recommend calling your regular vet in the morning to let them know that this happ

What happens if a dog takes a pill that has desloratadine? (it didn’t happen, just curious! also the pills are 5mg)

Not sure, but my 1 year old cocker spaniel May have eaten 1 of my 30 mg lisinopril. He seems fine. Should I be concerned?
He should be fine. You may see some vomiting, diarrhea and/or lethargy. He would need to ingest 8 of the pills for there to be a risk of toxicity. If necessary, withhold food for 24 hours, allowing small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts until any symptoms of GI upset resolve. Transition slowly to his regular diet afterwards. If symptoms persist or worsen, have him examined by your veterinarian.

My 19lb dog ate one "NAtureMade" brand multi prenatal vitamin + DHA. Is she going to be okay?? She didn't eat the coating, just liquid inside. She also gets a little salmon oil on her meals. Ingredients of pill in pic.
Since she only ate 1 pill, I would not be worried about toxicity. The doses in the vitamins for each of the components should not be harmful. You may see some GI signs such as poor appetite, vomiting or diarrhea, but should resolve. If symptoms continue, I would recommend taking her to your veterinarian.

My beagle ate 1.5 doses this morning Will she be ok?
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Grace. Nexgard is typically a safe drug. Animal safety studies were performed on Beagle puppies during product development. These dogs received doses up to 5x the standard dose and had no adverse effects. If Grace is otherwise healthy, she should be fine. She can always see her veterinarian though if you are concerned.
