What are the white-yellow bits stuck in my cat's fur near his butt?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I have recently noticed white-yellow bits near my cat’s butt stuck in his fur. He’s been treated for worms multiple times and I’ve checked his poop, but there aren’t any worms there. I just need to see what these are.

Hello. These are definitely tape worm segments. When you deworm your cat again, make sure it says it takes care of tapeworms. Also, be sure you are using a good flea preventative regularly, as this is the most common way that cats pick up tapeworms. The other way is through hunting & eating small prey.
