Why is my Cane Corso's neck itchy with hair loss and thick skin?

Itching skin issue on one area of the body (neck under left ear) with a thick coating. Itching is causing hair loss and loss of the crust area. Benadryl seems to help. Full bread Cane Corso. Pet's info: Dog | Cane Corso | Male | unneutered | 5 years old | 100 lbs

Hello. That is really a pretty involved skin reaction & probably due to an underlying skin condition called atopic dermatitis. This may be too much for you to try & treat at home, but you do need to keep down infection by gently cleaning twice daily with a skin antiseptic like Hibiclens, available at all pharmacies. As involved as this is, I would like to see Kitty on antibiotics, & possibly a short course of steroids to calm the irritation. I do hope you can have Kitty see soon.
