My dog with kidney stones/UTI won't eat or drink. Should I go to ER?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 5 years and 9 months old | 95 lbs

My dog hasn't eaten/drank since yesterday at dinner she is being treated right now for kidney stones and a urinary tract infection however the vet said if she doesn't eat or drink today they will see her tomorrow but I feel like that is a long time to go without eating or drinking and when should I bring her to the emergency vet to get fluids if she does not eat or drink

If she's completely refusing food and water and it's been more than a day, I would try to get her into your vet sooner or into the ER. You can check to see how dehydrated Aurora is by gently pinching and tenting the skin over her neck. If it seems "sticky" or is very slow to return back to normal, this is a sign of dehydration. If she's dehydrated in addition to her other symptoms and also is suffering from underlying health issues, I would have her seen right away.
