My cat ate a 5 inch shoe lace that’s about 5cm wide. I only saw him chewing the last piece of it, so I’m not sure he ate the whole thing. He’s running around playing and seems fine right now but I’m worried. What should I do?
If he ate the shoe-lace within the past 90 minutes, take your cat to a PetER where they can make him vomit and hopefully bring up the lace. If it has been longer, then you need to monitor him for diarrhea and vomiting and if this occurs, take him to a PetER for an exam as he then may have an obstruction of his intestine. Should the lace pass naturally and you see it sticking out from his anus, do NOT pull on it. It needs to be pushed out naturally. Pulling on it may damage your cat's intestine.

Hi! My cat doesn't stop biting my sweater that i have dressed, he's constantly meowing and then walking on the sweater in the same place and sometimes from side to side, never letting my sweater. Should I be worried?

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. If Juna is obsessed with anything stringy, you will have to be vigilant about ensuring that she does not have access to anything she could possibly chew and ingest. When cats eat anything linear or stringy, they are at a HUGE risk of a linear foreign body obstruction, which is a surgical emergency and is life threatening. This occurs when a piece of the string/ribbon/yarn gets anchored in one part of their GI tract (ie under their tongue, in the stomach, etc) and the rest of the intestines end up scrunching up around it as they try to contract and move it along. The string can ultimately saw through and perforate the intestines, causing a septic abdomen. I recommend purchasing cat toys that are very durable and do not have any sort of fabric/string/yarn associated with them, and encourage Juna to play with those. Unfortunately some cats love to eat strings and bite these types of objects. Hopefully since Peanut is so young he will grow out of it, but that may not always be the case. The concern with this if he swallows something and it gets stuck somewhere in his intestines. A string like object can be very difficult to find on X-rays and he could need surgery to find it. The only way to truly stop him from eating them is to make sure everything is put away. I would make sure you put time aside to play with him and get his energy out. Also make sure there are places he can climb up on and hide in. Hopefully with getting his energy out he doesn't have the energy to eat the string like objects. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.

I have a six week old kitten. What woould be the best way to teach him not to bite shoelace's and wires?
Wanting to bite on wires, shoelaces, strings, and other things is completely normal behavior in a kitten this age - this is how they explore the world, and how they instinctively want to play :) You will not be able to stop this behavior, as it's hard-wired and very natural for them. Instead, you need to focus on redirecting Lucky to appropriate things for him to bite and chew on, and keep him safe by putting things away that might be dangerous. Make sure to provide a variety of different toys that you can use to play with him - it sounds like he would probably enjoy fishing pole type toys very much! He should also have a few good, solid scratching posts and a cat condo or tree to climb on. Put your shoes away when you aren't wearing them - if he tries to bite at the laces when you have them on, use one of his toys to redirect his attention so he can bite on that instead. Wires should be safely tucked away behind furniture whenever possible - you can also try using Bitter Appl

Why does my young cat like scotch tape, paper, etc so much? This isn’t a new development. Ever since I got him at 3 months old. He has small mouse toys and we play together. Should I be concerned with him eating these things?
Hi there! Sammy sounds like such a fun and frisky kitty cat. I am not really sure why cats like things like paper or scotch tape so much, but assume it's because of the crinkly sounds that they make when they play with those types of objects. As with all foreign material though, cats really shouldn't be actually ingesting the tape or paper. They could definitely cause some stomach upset. Even pieces of toys, if swallowed, can get caught on the way through the gastrointestinal tract and cause lots of serious problems. I have even seen a cat have several ponytail hair-ties removed from its tummy after swallowing them! It sounds like you two play together a lot, which is great, so if Sammy has a tendency to chew his toys and other things into pieces and potentially eat them, I would keep everything out of reach unless you are home and can supervise. Other than that, he honestly just sounds like he is being a normal, silly cat. I hope you find this answer helpful! Best of luck!

Hello. Thank you for using Boop by Petco. It is fine to let Cecille out as much as you would like once she is an adult (over 10 months of age). For now you can take her out for short periods of time supervised. Ultimately it is completely up to you how much you want to let her out. There is no set standard. Hope this helps. Best wishes!

She should not experience any adverse side effects. I do tend to find that the flea / tick collars are not as effective as the oral preventative medications such as Bravecto.
