French Bulldog has a blood stain and skin irritation. Is it serious?

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Female | 22 lbs

Hi, I had my frenchie on my lap and noticed she left a small blood stain on my pants. Upon checking its not her "period" I looked at the other side and found where the blood comes from and some redness and blackness (not her heces) and a tiny pimple. Could this be irritation or should it be a cause of concern? No changes in her diet have been done or behaviour. She did number 2 normal and no blood. No symptoms either other than this

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Sushi and for providing a picture, it's very helpful. I LOVE her name! I think it looks like irritation. Try giving her an Epsom salt bath to see if that helps. Use a cup of Epsom salt per gallon of warm water and let her soak in it. Do not let her drink the solution. If this does not help or it gets worse, have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This looks like a focal infection. At least in this picture it appears to be superficial. Make sure that this is not from urine getting into that part of the skin and if it is, have him evaluated by a veterinarian. You can try to use a medicated shampoo containing chlorhexidine twice weekly for 2 weeks. If there is no improvement or in the meantime this appears to be getting worse, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good day!

Hi, and thanks for your question. This could be due to an allergy, although it could also be infection or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment, then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair any possible skin lesions (like steroids and antibiotics). The ear are affected by very severe and chronic infection. Our Frenchie bulldog is experiencing red bumps on his legs and stomach and Scratching constantly. It’s been like this for a few days and have worsen. I gave him children’s Benadryl to calm down the itching but it worked for a little while then bumps
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is possibly due to allergies. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. There are medications such as Apoquel or prednisone which may help with the itch. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies.  Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market).  If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). That looks like a very inflamed ulcer or a wound. I do recommend to have that examined by the veterinarian. Kona will likely get a medicated ointment to decrease the inflammation. I hope it clears up quickly and please feel free to post any additional questions.

My 7 month frenchie has these sores on his belly and genital area, what could it be? He licks what he can reach but other than that it doesn’t seem to bother him.
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Elvis. I recommend that he sees his veterinarian today as his skin appears uncomfortable. He could be experiencing a skin infection secondary to allergies, fleas, or a problem due to ringworm or mites. His veterinarian will examine him and may recommend skin tests. From there, medications can be prescribed to help him feel better. In the meantime, you can bathe him with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula to soothe his skin. I hope this information helps!

My dogs eye is a bit irritated underneath but doesn’t seem to be actually affecting her eye itself
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I can see how the skin is red in the folds on his face under the left eye. It is not unusual for pugs, frenchies and bull dogs to get a facial fold dermatitis. Moisture builds up in the wrinkles and an infection can occur. There are wipes you can get to to wipe the affected areas. I like Mal-a-ket wipes or Douxo chlorhex wipes. Your Vet should carry them Good luck!

It looks like Banjo has a skin infection. These are usually bacterial in nature, but sometimes it can be from a fungus or yeast. Banjo should see a veterinarian for an exam and treatment. This will likely consist of a medicated shampoo and an oral antibiotic. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.
