My puppy is limping after a kick, but shows no pain. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | 1 month and 27 days old

Recently got a German Shepard puppy, one of our other dogs was getting into trouble so I sprinted into action, in the process kicking the puppy pretty hard. She is now limping, but we don’t feel any broken bones and she is not showing any signs of pain when we move her legs in all directions. Puppy is 7 weeks old.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Freya. If she is limping, this means that she is painful. I recommend that she sees a veterinarian today. The veterinarian will examine her and try to isolate the sore area. X-rays may be needed as hairline fractures can occur that cannot be felt. Based on these results, treatment can be started if necessary. In the meantime, keep her quiet and carry her when possible. Do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to dogs. I hope this information helps!
