Is my dog's TPLO incision healing okay, or should I see a vet sooner?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 6 years and 3 months old | 39 lbs

My dog is recovering from TPLO surgery. I'm trying to figure out if his incision looks ok. We have an appointment on Wed, but should in try to get in Monday?

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! At least based on these pictures, it does not look infected. If you are concerned at any point about an infection due to signs such as bleeding, discharge or foul odor, have her evaluated by a veterinarian then. Otherwise, she will be fine. Have a good night!

My dog had TPLo surgery 8 days ago and today I noticed yellow discharge and some of the staples have sunk into the incision (6 of 21). Is this an emergency or can I call the vet first thing in the am?
Since the incision is not open, as long as your pet is feeling okay (no fever, lethargy, etc).. it is okay to wait until the morning. At that time, contact the surgeon and schedule a recheck as they will definitely want to see the incision. It does look like there is some infection starting and that will need to be treated with antibiotics. If you have an Elizabethan collar or "cone" to put on her until you get to the vet, that would be a great idea. The area is probably tender and itchy and she may want to lick it, which may cause more damage.

It looks like things are still healing well. You may notice some of the sutures loosening and this is normal as long as the incision continues to heal. So far, the sutures look fine and they are not interfering with healing. Continue the current therapy until he is cleared on Friday. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.

Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Teddy. From the picture you provided, the incision looks good, but if it has become darker and redder, than I would be concerned about it and have him seen by a vet today to be safe. I hope this helps!

I got my puppy spayed on 1/11 I want to know if her incision is healing correctly
From the photo this appears to be a normal incision. Monitor for swelling, pain or discharge from the incision site. If concerned I would contact the vet that performed her surgery to see if they offer recheck for surgical patients. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

My boxer/corgi 10 month old was neutered on Tuesday, December 19th and since has become very clingy and after looking at the area I am curious if it is normal to look how it does since it has been 5 days.
Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. From your pictures you have provided, I would strongly suggest taking Buddy in to have the neuter incision rechecked. It looks infected and looks as though the wound will open up further. The sooner this is seen the better. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further. This likely needs to be cleaned up and Buddy needs to be on an oral antibiotic.

Thank you for providing pictures of Blaze's incisions, it helps with my answer to you. From the picture, I do not see any redness or swelling, which is great! I also see the area where the scab came off. At this point in time, as long as there is no sign of infection and he is eating and drinking normally, it's fine to wait until Tuesday to have him seen by the vet. Make sure he doesn't lick at the area, putting an Ecollar on him in case he tries to do that. I would rush him into the vet if the area does become red or swollen, the incision area starts bleeding, or it appears that the incision has opened up. Good luck, I hope this helps!

The incision itself looks ok but I'm wondering if there is some swelling at the end of the incision. I'd keep an eye on it for now and if there is swelling there and it gets bigger, have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. The incision, from what I can see of it from this photo, looks OK to me. The blood looks dried and the incision does not look open. It is really imperative that you try to keep him calm and keep a cone collar on him to prevent him from licking the incision. He can have controlled exercise meaning you can take him for walks. We just don't want him running around freely and jumping/playing. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Hello. The incision looks a little inflamed, but not too bad. You can apply a skin antiseptic like Hibiclens to the area twice a day & you can pick this up at any pharmacy. But otherwise, everything looks pretty good. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.
