Is it safe to give my cat ibuprofen or Tylenol for mouth pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | 16 years and 3 months old | 9 lbs

My cat is in pain. Can I give her a little ibuprofen or Tylenol until I can get an appointment at her vet??? It’s a mouth issue. Likely an infection or a hurting tooth area. She’s starting to paw at her face and drool tonight. her eyes are starting to separate in a weird way

No, Ibuprofen and Tylenol can be toxic to cats. If she seems to be in a lot of pain and your vet can’t see her then you will need to take her to an emergency clinic for treatment. Sorry that she is in pain.
