Found stray kitten with eye problem & malnourished. How can I help?

Hello, I recently found stray kitties and this one seems to have something on its face. A lot of vets in the area are still closed because of COVID, but is there anything I would be able to do to help treat the kitty, It also is a bit smaller in comparison to the other kitties, I feel it is malnourished. How can I help?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Shadow and for providing a picture. It's very helpful! There is clearly something wrong with her eye, and it appears the conjunctiva is quite swollen. I'm wondering if there is blood on her face from her eye or if there is another problem with her face such as a skin infection. This eye problem has to be checked out by a vet immediately, it cannot be treated at home. Any eye problem is an emergency because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. You need to find an open vet to see her asap. As for her being smaller, it may be she has intestinal worms, which are common in kittens. The vet can treat that as well. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! He is adorable! The eye could have suffered some damage perhaps caused by trauma requiring medical or even surgical help. The diarrhea could be perhaps due to parasites. I highly recommend that you have your kitty evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment which may include eye drops and anti-diarrhea medications. Stray 1 month old kitten eyes swollen out I need help asap
HI, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor baby! Usually the cause of swollen eyes in a kitten so young is a viral or bacterial infection causing conjunctivitis or corneal ulcers. You can take a warm (not hot) wash cloth and warm compress the eyes until the discharge is broken down to see if he/she will open her eyes. I recommend you take the kitten to the Vet. They can check the eyes for ulceration and prescribe eye ointment and possibly antibiotics. Good luck!

Well there is this stray cat, NOT feral, that I have been feeding for the past 1-2 years. I noticed she has an open wound on her neck that is maybe 4 inches long? Also, she is starting to have a problem with her eye too. I can't get a good look at it
If it is possible I would take this cat to the SPCA or a veterinarian. This wound needs to be cleaned up and the cat needs antibiotics. If you take her to a veterinarian you would have to be able to medicate her without her running away from you and to do it safely. If you would like to continue to take care of her I would also recommend a Rabies vaccination for her to have her protected especially since you will be handling her. If you brought her to the SPCA they would take her in and after her recovery they would be able to put her up for adoption. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.

Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. It appears as though Wraith may have a respiratory infection and the thin body condition could be due to failure for her to thrive from the infection. She may also have intestinal parasites that could be causing the poor weight gain. I would definitely consider bringing her inside and keeping her in there out of the cold weather, especially considering she is so young and thin. If you are concerned about cost at a vet clinic, there are plenty of rescues you could reach out to to see if either they have any medications to donate or if they could take her from you so that she can get the most appropriate veterinary care. The only other option you have is to make sure she is eating enough and can even add kitten formula with the food and wait for her immune system to fight off the respiratory infection. Hi I met a homeless cat I don’t know the gender, but she is so nice. Anyway, the eyes look really bad and I think it might be pink eye. Also it’s anus looks irritated or something, not to mention that it’s very under weight.
I agree that this kitty is thin! And I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that this is a female, because almost all calico cats are female. Certainly she would benefit from some good nutrition in the form of a high quality food. I worry that the anus is so irritated because she has diarrhea, possibly from intestinal parasites, which could also be contributing to her failure to gain weight. The red eyes could be a sign of an upper respiratory infection. Cats don't get what we think of as pink eye, but certainly they can have bacterial eye infections, and these need treatment with antibiotic eye medications. I would recommend you keep this kitty safe overnight in the house with some good food, and then take her to your nearest vet in the morning. He/she can scan her to see if she has a microchip, as she could be lost from her owners, and then provide appropriate medications. I have a stray kitten in my yard who looks very ill. She has mucus in her eyes and coming out of her nose. I got her to drink water but she isn’t eating any food. She looks very weak and out of it. Help! What can it be?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is likely an upper respiratory infection. This is usually treated with antibiotics and eye drops. She needs to be evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for this possibility and start therapy accordingly. Best of luck!

My kitten has black skin looking patches over its eyes. How can i help or what is it?
Hi and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! The pictures you sent were a little bit blurry, but the areas where her eyes should be appear very abnormal. It is unclear as to what exactly is going on with the pictures alone. The black covering her eyes could be a thick later of dried ocular discharge from a severe viral eye infection or could be a mass, tumor, or other infection of the eye. I would recommend your kitten see a veterinarian as soon as possible so they can take a closer look here to see what exactly is going on. A good exam with a veterinarian should be able to determine what the cause is. I hope this helps and thanks for posting!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor cat! Most eye problems are treated with eye ointment. Sadly you'd have to be able to catch the cat and apply the ointment twice daily. In order to get the medication the cat would need to be examined by a Vet. If there is a humane society or other organization that catches feral cats in your area consider contacting them to help catch the cat and get it medical care. The most common causes of ocular problems in cats are: viral disease, corneal ulcers or trauma. I hope this helps and I wish you the best!

Hello. Thank you for rescuing this kitten. I would be most concerned about this kitten having an infection & most certainly having a large number of parasites it its gut. Roundworms are especially common in kittens & can cause significant discomfort & diarrhea. Poor kitten, glad you found him. Probably need to get him into your local veterinarian as soon as possible to get all this checked out, but in the meantime, you might want to gently clean up those areas around the nose and ears with some warm water and cotton balls. Be sure to wash your hands afterward in case of ringworm. You could gently hot pack the swelling around the eye, again with cotton and warm water, but this is only supportive help until your vet can examine it and recommend appropriate treatment. Nutrition is very important with small amounts of dry or canned kitten food mixed with warm water or kitten milk replacer, available at your vet clinic or feed store. Feed at least 4-6 times daily small amounts. Be sure to monitor the litter box for urine and feces and if none, then may need to wipe the genital areas with warm water and soft cloth to stimulate the process of elimination. All this can be discussed in more detail at your local clinic or with me under consult
