Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 5 years and 8 months old | 58 lbs
Hello my dog has always had pretty bad breath but recently it seemed to be worse. I started to brush his teeth and he's letting me do more and more each day. However his back teeth look almost like they're beginning to rot or maybe just need a deep cleaning. Can anyone give me advice on what I should do? Should I take him to the vet or will this go away with me brushing his teeth almost daily? He is a catahoula leopard dog mixed with a pitbull.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Riddick. Thank also for providing pictures, they are very helpful. I see some swelling of his gums around those moles and a fair amount of plaque. Daily brushing will not correct this. He does need to see a vet for a dental cleaning, polishing, and scaling. I'd give his vet a call in the morning to make him an appointment. I hope this helps!
