Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Luna. Poor girl! That is quite swollen and the area look really wet, so I suspect there is discharge. I'm wondering if she could have a malignant growth that has ulcerated causing this or if it could be a problem with her anal sacs. Her anal sacs may have been impacted and have now ruptured. Without seeing her in person, I ca't say what is going on for sure. I think it's best you take her into a vet immediately to get this diagnosed and treated. I hope this helps!

Yes, I would take Luna into the vet. She's licking her anus a lot because it's bothering her, and if you are see a pale pus discharge coming from that area, I would be concerned that she has infected anal sacs. This is something that has to be treated, so make an appointment for her as soon as possible. I hope this helps.

It appears from the photo that Boo has an anal sac abscess. She will need to see the vet for treatment. The abscess needs to be drained and the anal sac flushed out. After that, she will need to be on an antibiotic to clear the infection.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco. This is an anal gland abscess which has ruptured. I recommend taking him to the vet tomorrow where they will likely want to clean and flush the area and give him some antibiotics. It looks really scary I know, but most of that is not actually blood (it's anal gland material) and these actually tend to heal beautifully and quickly in cats. For tonight, you can apply some hydrogen peroxide or a little damp cloth to help with the oozing and the smell. Best wishes to you and Kitty!

Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Rodney. Poor boy. It may be he had an impacted anal sac and it burst causing the blood. As long as the bleeding has stopped, it can wait until the morning. If the bleeding won't stop, he's pretty distressed, or appears lethargic and in pain, take him into an ER vet. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco. I'm so sorry to hear about Luna - it sounds like she has had a rough go of things lately. Diarrhea is a very non-specific signs so I'm afraid the possibilities are numerous. Intestinal worms, inflammatory bowel disease, food sensitivity, allergic reaction, colitis from stress, diet charge or indiscretion (stealing people food, etc), toxin, or others are all on the list. For tonight, just gently clean her up with a baby wipe or tissue. You can apply a little lanolin or olive oil to soothe the rump. A little ice pack (wrapped in a paper towel or thin kitchen towel) pressed to the anus can help with the pain and inflammation as well. Best of luck to you and Luna!

I am sorry to hear about your concern for Julia! If the area appears inflammed I would recommend an examination at her vet. We can get infected anal sacs that could result in a bulge/swelling on either side of the anus. A wound or unfortunately a tumor could also cause a mass/lump in this area. If the area doesn't seem too inflammed or painful, you could try monitoring it for a week or two. If it is not going away, is getting larger or starts to weep then a visit to the vet is recommended.

Swelling of the anus/rectum could be due to constipation/hard stools, anal gland issues, allergies, irritation, or other problems. You would need to have the area looked at by your vet to determine what is going on and get the appropriate treatment. Be sure to let your vet known of any other issues you may have seen such as changes in appetite, energy levels, stool habits, etc. You can also use an Elizabethan (cone) collar to prevent your cat from licking/chewing at the affected area if it is bothersome until you can get to your vet.

My cat has been licking her butt nonstop. It looks swollen, and she can't control her bladder. How serious is this?
It sounds like your pet could potentially have a UTI and an anal gland problem (two sacs located at the 4 o'clock and 10 o'clock position). This can get worse with time so I recommend you schedule an appointment for your cat soon so that she can get the proper treatment she needs for her care. They will check her anal glands to see if they need to be expressed and also run a urinalysis to check for bacteria and WBC's which would be present in cases of a UTI infection. Once they find out what kind of bacteria are present, then they can prescribe the appropriate antibiotic treatment for it.

Thanks for visiting Boop by Petco. This appears to be a possible anal gland abscess rupture. This is a spontaneous thing that can happen in pets with anal gland problems, where the anal glands fill up and are not able to express normally. We think this is caused by an underlying allergy, which can be discussed with your vet. Sometimes giving your pet a high fiber diet can help prevent reoccurence. Peanut Butter needs to see your vet for a short course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicine to help this wound heal properly. He may also need the anal gland to be flushed thoroughly while under a mild sedative. I would recommend scheduling an appt for him soon to get this taken care of. In the meantime, you can purchase an e-collar from your local pet store and place it on him to deter him from licking the area and making the inflammation/irritation worse. Poor guy. I hope he gets this resolved soon and is able to go back to his normal self. Best of luck and take care.

Her butt is all swollen and has a small bump near it.i squeezed the bump and bloody clear stuff came out of it. No vets are open right now and j can't afford the vet till my next paycheck. Please help.
I am suspicious that Quora may have an anal sac abscess. These situations usually need antibiotics to resolve.
