My cat ate a hairband, vomited, still distressed. Is it serious?

My 10mo old cat loves to eat things. Hairbands/rubber bands/bracelets. Tonight he has been throwing up all evening, and all three of the aforementioned items showed up in his vomit. However, he's still having heaves, and is generally distressed. It doesn't seem like there's anything left for him to throw up. Should I let him sleep it off?

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Rubber bands can form linear foreign bodies, which are very dangerous to cats. In Majid case, it also could be that a piece of a hairband or rubber has tangled up at the base of the tongue and is causing heaving and distress. If Majid has been vomiting that much, it would be safer if you take him to your local vets today to check him over.
