My cat has a dry, hard chest wound. Is it serious or will it heal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | spayed | 9 years and 1 month old | 8.5 lbs

I found this wound on my cat’s chest. I don’t know when she got wounded but I never saw any blood or expressions of pain from her. Its very dry and hard. Also around that area she had a few knots and some of the knots fell off. Is it serious or will it just heal on its own? When I was cleaning her water bowl, some red came off in the tissue paper. Her bowl is also red so I’m not sure wether its blood or the plastic wearing off. THANK YOU!

It does look like a wound but it is very difficult to tell because of all of her hair. I don't think it is serious and it will probably heal on it's own. Just monitor it and if it does not go away have a vet check her out.
