My cat drank boat cleaner. What are poisoning signs to watch for?

Hello. My cat somehow managed to get his face soaked in some of my brothers boat cleaner. I’m guessing he probably drank some as well. The cleaner is called Babes Boar Brite Spray Wax Cleaner. I am concerned about him and wondering what signs I should watch for poisoning and for how long should I have to watch? Thanks.

Oh no that's not good! Poor Simba. I would give him a bath now to give the cleaner off his face, and rinse his mouth with cool water. Watch him for the next 24 hours. If you see vomiting, excessive drooling, lethargy, sores in his mouth, or a loss of appetite, take him into a vet immediately. Best of luck.

I'm so sorry that Simba is not going well. You didn't mention how long ago he might have ingested the soap. We will see mostly GI signs (vomiting and diarrhea) with most soap ingestions, but some soaps have ingredients that cause damage to the lining of the GI tract and can require much more intensive treatment. I would recommend contacting a poison control center with the exact ingredients in the soap and see if they can tell you how worried you need to be about the soap ingestion. https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control Since Simba is a kitten, he needs to be taken to a vet right away if he isn't eating or drinking. Kittens can get dehydrated very quickly, which can be very dangerous. Good luck!

Our cat licked a little toilet bowl cleaner that was in the toilet. The active ingredient is hydrochloric acid (9.50%). She has no symptoms. We gave her water and milk. Anything else you'd suggest doing?

If you see burns, take her into a vet immediately. If you see excessive drooling, vomiting, difficulty eating, or lethargy, have her seen by a vet. You did the right thing by giving her milk. Monitor for difficulty breathing wheezing, coughing, lethargy, drooling, loss of appetite, wobbly gait or tremors. Remove him to an area with fresh air and ventilate the affected areas for several hours before bringing him back in.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! If the floor looked dry I am sure she is fine. I do not think she needs to see a vet. If you want to rinse her mouth out well with water as a precaution and wipe her paws well with water to prevent any more possible ingestion that isn't wrong. If she becomes lethargic, drools, won't eat or in anyway appears abnormal then bring her to the Vet. But based on your description I think she will be fine. Maybe have a discussion with your roommate about this so it won't happen again. I hope this helps!

I fought my cat drinking water I had sprayed scrubbing bubbles in, I don’t think she got very much but I need to know what to do. I’m currently not working so I do not have the money to go to a vet.
Oh no. As this was diluted with water, there is a good chance Nala really didn't get much of the scrubbing bubbles. Watch her for drooling, lethargy, and loss of appetite. Also check her mouth for signs of sores. If you see any of those things, have her seen by a vet.

If Smokey only smelled the cleaning solution wouldn't be too concerned but you may want to take him outside to a well ventilated area to get some fresh air. If he drank any of the water I would watch for regurgitation, vomiting, lethargy and lack of appetite. If any of those things occur you should have Smokey examined by a veterinarian right away. Oh no, that's not good that Tigger may have drank diluted bleach! Enough bleach can cause vomiting, and mouth, throat, and stomach irritation. Rinse his mouth out with water right away, but do not induce vomiting. That can make the situation worse. Encourage plenty of water intake, soaking his food in tuna juice or gently warmed low sodium beef or chicken broth to get more fluids into him If you do see any abnormal symptoms such as vomiting, anorexia, lethargy, diarrhea, or irritation in his mouth, I would have him seen by a vet right away.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! To be safe, bathe Sabbath in case bleach got on his fur. Since cats groom themselves we wouldn't want him to get bleach in his mouth. If he'll let you, try to rinse his mouth, but don't do it if he tries to bite. My hope is that he didn't lick any and none spilled on him. If he starts drooling, not eating or breathing fast take him to the Vet. I hope this helps! Good luck!

Depending on the dilution, you may see some irritation in and around the mouth as well as vomiting and/or diarrhea. If Nala drank a large quantity, get her to your veterinarian or to the nearest veterinary ER. Either may induce vomiting via injection if indicated. Monitor for lethargy, drooling, pawing at the mouth or GI upset. Symptoms typically develop soon after ingestion.
