My senior dog has an ear wart. Should I be concerned or see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 11 years old | 12 lbs

Good Morning, My 10 1/2 year old shorty has had this small wart on the outside of his right ear. It doesn’t seem to bother him at all but I’m wondering if I should take him in?

Hello. Warts are very, very common on older pets, & unless it seems to be bothering Teddy, I would not be concerned about this at all. If it does bother him, it can be surgically removed, but just keep an eye on things for now. Thanks for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
