Why is my spayed puppy lethargic and not eating after treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 2 months and 8 days old | 14 lbs

9wk female pup spayed 2 days ago given Goodwinol ointment for demodectic mange for use around eyes and face every 12 hours. Instructions specifically say every 24 hours but I followed what I was told. Now after 4 treatments, she won't eat and is a bit lethargic. What should I do?

Hello. It is unlikely the Goodwinol ointment is causing any problems. Most often it is associated with some contact irritation. But it would not hurt to stop for aa day or so. If Ari continues to act unwell & you can not get her to eat, check in with the veterinarian that did the spay to makes sure all is OK with this. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
