Is it safe to delay my indoor cat's flea and deworming treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Himalayan | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 8 months old | 6.6 lbs

Hi, I hope you're doing well. Noushi takes her parasite, flea prevention treatment-"deworming" every three months. Is it ok if I still don't take her to the vet even after a month delay and do it with two months delay. There are still cases of covid19 in Iran and I'm so worried for her health & safety. Btw she's an indoor cat, never goes out & is in no contact with other cats. Thank you so much

Hi there. While it's not ideal to delay her next scheduled dose of medication for deworming and flea prevention, this doesn't normally cause any major problems. Especially for an indoor-only cat, as her risk of exposure to these things is fairly low. it's possible that she may pick up some fleas or parasites in the meantime after her most recent dose stops working, but as long as you give the next dose as soon as you're able to, that should get things back on track. :)
