Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Baby. Oh that looks awful. I'm concerned he could have mange or a severe skin infection. Without seeing him in person, I cannot make a definitive diagnosis. You cannot treat this at home, and you need to take him into a vet today get this treated. Best of luck.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I am afraid that it is not possible to diagnose this just based on a picture. This usually will require an examination and basic diagnostics. I am suspicious that he has been biting at his tail and this is possibly due to allergies. I recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to diagnose his condition so that he can be started on therapy. Good luck!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is possibly due to allergies. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. This could also be mites and an exam and basic cytology would be needed to determine if that is possible. That is something that requires a visit to a veterinarian. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. I really think you need to take Lady Bird to the vet for an exam. This skin infection looks pretty serious and she will most likely need antibiotics to clear it. Without having more history and examining her myself it is difficult to say what is actually causing this issue. There are many different skin conditions and unfortunately, many can look the same which is why a vet exam is really important.

You need to take him to a bet asap!! His skin is terrible! It looks like it is infected with yeast, bacteria or mange mites, but i suspect it is a combo. It neefs treated with an antiparasite, antibiotics, medicated shampoo and antinflammatories. Do not attempt to treat at home, it is way beyond that.

I recently noticed a type of rash on my dogs private area. We took her to the vet 2 weeks ago for her heat rashes, and it got significantly better. But we’ve never seen a rash like this before.
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This looks like very severe irritation/inflammation. It may be a reaction to something in the environment which may be causing this. Or it could also be something like a severe infection. I would highly recommend you consider going back to your veterinarian if she currently has the rash. They would be able to assess the situation and proceed with therapy accordingly. Best of luck!

My 11 yr old cat has a rash on his tummy. I don't have the money to take him in. Can you tell me something i can use otc?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is possibly a focal infection though it is difficult to know without an examination of the area. If this is a superficial rash, you can try to use chlorhexidine containing pads (such as the Douxo chlorhexidine 3% PS pads) to clean the are twice daily for 7 days. You may find these online or at your local pet store. If there is no improvement or in the meantime this appears to be getting worse, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good day!

My cat has a bad skin rash on her stomach and is loosing fur
Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. Poor Molly, that looks uncomfortable. Molly may be having some type of allergic reaction that has become infected. Make sure you are using a good flea product, not just a cheap one from WalMart. If Molly will let you, you can try bathing her in a medicated shampoo that has Benzoyl Peroxide. If not, please have her seen by your veterinarian. She may need to be treated with a steroid injection &/or antibiotics to clear this up, or to get to the source of the irritation. Take care.

Hello, & thank you for using Boop by Petco. I am afraid it is impossible to say what may be going on with your kittens skin. We do not see mange too often in kittens, but a bacterial skin infection, fleas, or a poor diet, could certainly result in hairloss. And there is also the possibility that this could be ringworm, too. Since ringworm could be contagious to you & your family, I would advise taking the kitten to your veterinarian at your earliest convenience just to be sure. Hope all is well soon. Take care.
