My cat's eye rolls back after being outside. Injury or infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 2 years old

My indoor cat recently got out and returned in the middle of the night. She has been sleeping most of the day. When she sleeps, her left eye sometimes rolls to the back of her head. I'm concerned she has some type of injury or infection.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Luna. It could be she has injured her eye when she got outside, or it may be an infection. Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I'd take her into a vet first thing in the morning. I hope this helps!
