Is my cat's fight wound infected? No hair growth, just redness.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Male | neutered | 15 lbs

hi, my cat dizzy was injured about two weeks ago (may 11) as he was involved in a cat fight with a feral cat. The feral cat scratched or bit him on his head. I immediately cleaned his wounds and tried to disinfect it with hydrogen peroxide and a q-tip. It’s been two weeks since then, I noticed today that he doesn’t have hair growing back on that area and that he has slight redness but no abscess or discharge. Can you please let me know if he has an infection? He is eating normally and seems ok.

No, it does not really look infected. Peroxide is only good after the initial injury - after that, if you continue to use it, it will delay healing. I suggest you use this spray gel on it instead: https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/vetericyn-antimicrobial-feline-facial-therapy-for-cats His left eye also looks weepy so I think you should get this eye gel too:
