Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Male | unneutered | 10 years and 2 months old | 20 lbs
Skin is dry, scaley, flakey, hair loss, smells like feces, turning white in some spots, tail area feels dead almost. He shakes constantly. He had a cytapoint injection and was on cephalexin for a skin infection. It did nothing. My vet says it's just extremely dry skin but I disagree. I want to see a specialist but most are closed due to Covid. Could this be mange? He's miserable. Isolates himself and isn't using the bathroom like he should.

It's probably not mange. It looks like chronic skin allergies (could be from food or the environment or atopy) with secondary bacterial and yeast infections. The thickening and darkening of the skin tells me that this isn't going to be a simple case to fix. As far as I am aware, specialists are still open in the US, but with some modifications. Most often they have a decreased appointment load and you will be asked to wait in the car. I would recommend that you make an appointment with the specialist, since this is a case that will not resolve with short courses of antibiotics and cytopoint injections.
