My dog has diarrhea and gas. What food is best for his upset stomach?

My dog has diarrhea and gas... He has a temperature of 38.1 so no fever. I was wondering what food is best to give him because I heard dry food is no good during diarrhea.

This is a great question! I can give you a home remedy for Butcher to see if that helps his diarrhea and gas. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, he refuses to eat the bland diet, he starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Luna passed loose stools this morning and had been passing foul gas. Please could you suggest some remedies.
As long as she is behaving normally, you can give her tummy a rest by withholding food for 12-24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. Transition slowly to her regular diet afterwards. Symptoms to monitor for and that should be addressed by your veterinarian include vomiting, persistent diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. A bland diet can be made by offering plain white rice and boiled boneless/skinless chicken breasts mixed in equal amounts. Start with 1 tablespoon of food every hour and gradually increase the amount.

What are some of the ways I can do to relieve dog's diarrhea?
If there is no obvious cause of your dog’s diarrhea (like eating something he should not have) and he is not vomiting and eating normally, I would recommend feeding him a bland diet, like plain boiled chicken and rice, for the next 24 hours. If the diarrhea does not resolve within 2 days or you dog is vomiting or there is any blood in the stool you should take her to the vet as soon as possible.

A sudden change in diet including switching brands can be enough to cause diarrhea in a dog.
