My dog has a spot near his anus, red then white. When to see vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Staffordshire Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 48 lbs

Hello, I saw this spot on my dogs anus after he had 4 poops in one day, over the space of a few hours. It was red in colour but now it's white. He did have another one but it's gone now. Should I wait for this to go on its own too? Thank you, Siobhan.

Hi, Siobhan. It's possible that this spot could be a part of "puppy pyoderma." Many puppies will get little pustules on their skin as they are growing. It is isn't a concern unless it causes irritation (characterized by itching or licking) or it doesn't appear to heal. If it isn't looking better in a few days, i would take Enzo to the vet for evaluation.
