Why is my dog vomiting daily with thick stomach lining and no diagnosis?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 5 lbs

My 6 year old Chiweenie has been vomiting clear slimy foam daily for 2 months. All her tests (including Leukemia) have come back good except for a thick stomach lining. Have spent over 7K on vet care, no diagnosis. She was put on a bland diet and ulcer meds. She has swollen lymphs in her neck and eats but doesn’t always keep everything down. She is happy in spirit, but cries in pain when she is vomiting the foam every morning (3 AM.) She is losing weight and I want to help her so badly!

Hello. I am so sorry for your poor Ceci. I know you have spent a tremendous amount of money trying to figure out what is wrong, but I think at this point you may need to do at least one more test. She needs to have her stomach scoped & probably a biopsy of her stomach lining taken to see if this may be some kind of unusual infection, such as a fungus ( Phythium sp. ). Have they ruled out a Helicobacter gastritis? This is treated with long term medications. Hopefully, Ceci will be feeling better soon. Thanks for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
