My dog has a rash between his legs and keeps licking. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Staffordshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 2 years and 5 months old | 85 lbs

My dog has some kind of rash between his legs that flares up and makes him lick. I'm not sure what it's from or if it's actually a rash or not. :(

Hello. It looks like Puck has some kind of skin sensitivity or allergy. If it just flares occasionally, then I would pick up an anti-inflammatory spray at Petco. Look for Zymox Spray with 0.5% hydrocortisone & use on any reddened skin areas. If the condition worsens or Puck shows increased sensitivities to the spray or other things seem to be bothering him, he may need additional treatments, but for mild irritations, this should work quite well. Thanks for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
