My cat suddenly won't eat his food. He's uninterested. Should I let him eat grass?

My cat didn’t eat his dinner today and doesn’t seem interested in food. He’s a god eater so it’s surprising. He eats twice a day and I mix Sheba with dry wellness for indoor cats. He’s active right now, but I’m worried. Should I let him eat grass?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Mo. Poor boy! A loss of appetite is often the first sign of illness. It can actually be pretty serious when a cat won't eat, as if they go long enough without eating (about 72 hours), they will develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. Not eating can be due to many things such as a dental problem, systemic illness, infection, or injury. I would not let him eat grass. Try offering him some boiled white meat chicken (no bones or skin) or tuna in spring water. If he refuses to eat that, have him seen by a vet in the morning. I hope this helps!
