My parrot flew into a door frame. Does he need a vet for concussion?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Parakeet | Male | 3 years old

My quaker parrot flew into a door frame. He was able to fly back to his cage but then became unbalanced and his eye was opening and closing slowly. After about 1 minute, he had his balance back and has been acting normal since. I am wondering if I need to bring him to a vet for a possible concussion.

With any major injury/accident, it's always best to bring your pet into the vet to rule out any internal problems or injuries that may have been missed by you. Keeping an eye on Koopa until you can get to the vet, watching for changes in eating/drinking habits, behavior, visible injuries such as holding a wing weird or perching funny, is also a good idea.
