Is it normal for my 2-month-old tiny puppy to sleep so much?

I have a 2 month old teacup yorkipoo. He’s very tiny and all he does is sleep. Is that bad ?

It is concerning, as you'd want to see times where Kilo is playing and active. While puppies can sleep up to 18-20 hours a day, sleeping all day is not normal. This can be a sign of a medical illness. I'd take him into a vet in the morning for a health check. Best of luck.

Hello. Puppies do sleep a lot. As long as Sky has periods of activity & is eating well, at least 3 times a day, & has regular eliminations, no diarrhea, then he is not probably overtly ill. But if he is suddenly acting sleepy when he was a more active pup, then this is not normal & he probably needs to be evaluated by your veterinarian. My dog used to sleep a lot and becoming lazy day by day so what can I do to change his habit?
Although puppies do sleep often during the day they should be very lively in between naps and the naps should be shorter as they get to 4-5months old. I would be concerned this is not a habit but that your puppy is acutally unwell - this is not normal puppy behavior. Please have him assessed by your vet as soon as possible to determine any underlying medical causes

Is it normal for puppies to sleep a lot? I have a two month old puppy who naps frequently. I don't think he's lethargic because when he is awake he plays and explores the house but I just want to make sure that this is normal.
Yes, it is normal for puppies this age to sleep a lot - they play hard and nap hard, just like babies :) As long as he is playful and active when he's awake, and he's eating and drinking normally with no other problems, I wouldn't be concerned.

So as long as she is behaving normally (eating, drinking, playing) between naps, there is likely no cause for concern at this point. To be safe, I'm going to recommend you take Ellie into your veterinarian for a health check. Your vet can determine if there is an underlying medical cause that requires treatment. Is it normal for a ten month old puppy to sleep a lot during the day.
It can be normal for a puppy this age to go through stages where they are sleeping more during the day, however if it seems extreme or if you have noticed any other changes in appetite, overall attitude, or elimination habits you may want to have Mack examined by your veterinarian.

At 24 days old a puppy should be sleeping and eating, urinating and defecating. That is all they do at this age. Ideally Bee should still be with his mother st this age. If he is not he needs to be bottle fed every few hours with puppy formula. If he is too lethargic to nurse he needs a veterinarian exam. But give it time he will start playing in a month or two.

Hi there and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! Yes, sleeping frequently during the day is not uncommon for puppies less than 8 weeks old. Puppies need a lot of sleep just like human babies do and will change as Sugar gets older. As long as Sugar is normal otherwise (is eating and drinking normally, has normal stool and urine, etc), I wouldn't worry too much. I hope this helps!

I recently bought a puppy, he's always very sleepy but he does play for a few, Is it normal for him to sleep that much, and when I can I take him out for a walk since he doesn't like to stay up and he's always laying down.
That could be completely normal and I would not be worried at all. Puppies may spend most of the day sleeping and alternate that phase to a another one of crazy activity. My little 40 days Labrador Retriever puppy he is sleeping sleeping all day why is it so please suggest
It is likely he is going through a growth spurt. Especially since he is a large breed dog. He will have days like this probably until he reaches puberty around 6-8 months of age. No worries. As long as he is eating drinking and using the potty normally I wouldn't be too concerned about it. I wish your puppy well!
