My puppy's adult canine teeth aren't growing. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 4 months and 10 days old | 50 lbs

I'm worried that Romeo's adult upper canines may not be coming in at the right time or may have been pulled out accidentally. He does play tug of war with our other two dogs. I don't know if it is too soon to worry about the teeth or not.

Usually the puppy teeth will not come out until the adult teeth are pushing through. At this point you can continue to monitor the area. Watch for any signs of infection in the tissue like redness or discharge. Most adult canines will start growing in between 5.5 - 6 months of age. if they are not grown in by 8 months of age or if you see any evidence of infection, have him examined by the veterinarian. I hope this helps.
