Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 70 lbs
When my dog woke-up this morning, she immediately vomited wood splinters. A few minutes later, I fed her some food (no loss of appetite), and she had a regular bowel movement with no subsequent vomiting. However, I noticed that her stool has a lot of wooden splinters in it. Is this cause for concern? She also is in good spirits, but does seem *SLIGHTLY* less energetic than usual. Since the initial vomiting, she's had 2 normal BMs, and no vomiting. The concern is the wood in her stool.

Hello. It is amazing what can pass through the gut of a dog. I am sure the wood Piper chewed up has softened & should pass without incident. As long as her appetite continues to be normal, I would not be too concerned. If she should stop eating, develop any diarrhea or painful defecation, develop a firm & painful abdomen, or appear to have a fever, please see your veterinarian immediately. Thanks for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
