My cat is lethargic, vomiting, and collapsing. Is it an emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 7 lbs

Greta is lethargic, her body temperature is really low (unfortunately I don't have a thermometer to check), she had loss of balance, vomited her food from last night, was laying in her urine. I put her down to see if she would eat or drink, and she's drinking water.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It sounds that Greta is very sick and you should take her to your local vets as soon as possible. It is very hard to say what is the problem, as the symptoms she is showing are specific to one particular disease. I could be due to intoxication, kidney or liver disease, heart failure and many more. Extreme weakness, low body temperature and problem with the balance all suggest potentially a life-threatening problem, so please call your nearest vets right away
