My cat has feline herpes. Is Terramycin eye drops safe to use?

Hello, so my cat has feline herpes and I bought meds for him but I'm a bit scared to give them to him. It says in some cases it can cause anaphylaxis. It's called terramycin. Should it be ok to give him for his eyes?

Hello, Yes, this drug can be prescribed to be given orally to cats for the treatment of herpes. I'd recommend making an appointment with your veterinarian to discuss the best treatment plan for her. Special pharmacies can make oral medications in cat-friendly flavors, like tuna, and this can help make the medication experience much easier. Sometimes this disease is still going to require eye drops as well though. I'd recommend trying to train her and make the eye drop experience better with positive reinforcement, treats, toys, etc to maintain this condition best over time. I hope this helps. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I only recommend erythromycin or terramycin be used in a cats eye. I recommend, if Riley is having an issue with her eyes, that you see a Veterinarian before putting anything in them. You don't want to do more harm than good. Cats are very sensitive and can react to many eye medications and can react to them all! I hope this helps and I wish you the best!

I am so sorry to hear that Mykee is uncomfortable. Conjunctivitis is common in kittens with upper respiratory infections. Most of the time these are viral, but we often use antibiotics drops or ointment in the eyes to prevent secondary bacterial infections. Terramycin is one of the commonly used topical medications. I would encourage you to call your veterinarian and ask about the possibility of a prescription. I would also encourage you to monitor her closely for any coughing , sneezing, or decreased appetite. Can I use terramycin on a 3 week old kitten for eye infection?
Terramycin is commonly prescribed in cats and kittens, but I cannot recommend its use for Snowball until she has been examined by a veterinarian to make sure that it is the appropriate medication for her eye problem.

Our vet recommended an otc antihistamine drop for my cat (I bought ketotifen) I gave her one drop in each eye. Since then I have been reading human drops aren't safe for cats. Are her eyes going to be ok?
Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Roxy. I do understand being concerned, but in some cases, it can be safe to use certain human drops. It's off label use. If your vet recommended it, it should be ok. I hope this helps!

Ideally, he should be physically examined by your veterinarian before any treatment is administered. He may need systemic antibiotics in addition to topical treatment. Pain medication may also be indicated. Legally, we are prohibited from telling you to medicate your pet in the absence of a physical exam and a VPCR (veterinarian-patient-client relationship).

My kitten ,mok got conjunctivitis in her eye i already put terramycin in her eyes and she rub her eye. Is it ok to let her rub her eye?
I'm glad to hear that Bubu Kitty Mok has already been to her vet to address this eye issue and start a course of terramycin. Do not allow her to rub her eye, as this could cause a corneal ulcer or abrasion in addition to her existing conjunctivitis. Put an e-collar (cone) on her until this eye issue resolves to prevent further damage to the eye. If the redness in her eye continues despite medication, she will need to go back to her vet for further evaluation. Although uncommon, terramycin can be irritating to some cats. I hope that she's feeling better soon!

Terramycin or Tobramycin probably would be the best thing to use in the eye.
