My cat has a swollen belly, but vet tests are clear. What's wrong?

Hi. I’ve recently had an issue with one of my cats and a swollen abdomen which seems to have happened over the last couple of days. He’s now not himself either. We took him to the vets today where the vet carried out a blood test aswell as physical exam and it appears there is nothing wrong with his bloods nor there seems to be any issue with his heart kidneys and liver. The vet has told us to watch him for a week and if he doesn’t change take him back in. I’m wondering what this issue could b?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Pops. You did the right thing by having him seen by a vet today for this. Depending on his age, this could be something serious like a tumor causing the swollen abdomen. Sometimes certain types of cancer are not detected with blood work. If this swollen abdomen does not subside, I would take him back into the vet for an abdominal x-rays and ultrasound. Best of luck.
