As kittens grow and take up more of the abdomen it can make it a little harder to expand the lungs so it can be normal. If you think Sannu is having trouble breathing or if her appetite is not normal I’d recommend having a vet examine her to make sure there’s nothing more serious going on.

I think the fact she has been breathing heavily for 24 hours without any progress in labour is quite concerning and I would definitely recommend a check up. I am glad to hear that the kittens are still moving, however things can change rapidly so please take her to see your vet.

I recommend to take her to the vet. It is not normal to see a hard time breathing due to pregnancy. There can be many different reasons for this including fluid overload from the pregnancy or the beginning of an infection. Best to play it safe. Try to record a video of the abnormal breathing as this may help the doctor in their diagnosis. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.

That could be completely normal especially when the kittens are starting to grown and occupy more space, but should be an intermittent sign and if continues a check up would be ideal. If that is the case respiratory versus cardiac problems must be differentiated. Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! These are certainly concerning symptoms, especially with still born kittens. It is possible she may still have additional kittens in her uterus that are not viable. If so, this could make her quite ill. It sounds like she has having increased effort as well as breathing fast, these are both concerning symptoms together. I would recommend she be evaluated by your family veterinarian as soon as possible to make sure she is not having a complication from her pregnancy and to rule out other concerning problems with her chest. I hope this helps and she feels better soon.
