Why did my senior dog vomit after eating human food and a burrito?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) | Male | neutered | 11 years and 8 months old | 8 lbs

My dog vomited this the last thing he ate was a microwavable borrito. Other things he ate before are, greenie dental treats, chicken, rice, tortilla, and his dog food. This is the first time he vomited in a while.

It is really not recommended that you feed him all these human foods. They are not good for him and, as you can see, they can upset his stomach. As they get older, just like in people, they get more intolerant of certain foods. Dog food only from now on. I would not be overly concerned if he only vomited once and seems otherwise fine. I have no idea what he threw up in that photo. If he continues to vomit or shows any other signs of illness then you need to take him to the vet for an exam.
