My tiny kitten has teeth. When can I start weaning her and how?

My kitten is a stray. We picked her up because mother was not taking care of her and she was much smaller than the rest of the litter. (We've had her for about a week) She's got teeth growing in but she's still tiny and still has blue eyes. I'm wondering when I should start weaning her and how I should do that. I'd also like to know relatively how old she is if you can tell by the picture.

Eve is so cute! If her eyes are open and her teeth are coming in, she is at least three weeks of age. You can start weaning her now. To help her wean and to get used to dry food, I would soak a high quality kitten formulated dry food in warm water until soft. Then mix that with kitten formula such as KMR to make a mush the consistency of oatmeal. Over the next two weeks, gradually increase the amount of dry kitten food and decrease the amount of water and KMR you use until she is eating the dry kitten food only. I hope this helps!

I would say probably around four weeks of age. It’s fine to give it wet food with KMR, and over the course of two weeks, decrease the amount of KMR and increase the amount of wet food until it is eating the wet food only. Best of luck.

Good questions! A kitten can start being weaned onto solid food around four weeks of age, and it should be done slowly over the next two to three weeks. Kittens are typically on solid food only around six to seven weeks of age. To help her wean and to get used to dry food, I would soak a high quality kitten formulated dry food in water water until soft. Then mix that with formula such as KMR to make a mush the consistency of oatmeal. Over the next two to three weeks, gradually increase the amount of dry kitten food and decrease the amount of water and KMR you use until she are eating the dry kitten food only. A kitten's eye will be fully open around three weeks of age, so if Stella's eyes are fully open and she can see, she will be at least three weeks old. The best way to get an idea of her age is to take her into the vet for an exam. The vet can estimate her age. To help her wean and to get used to dry food, I would mix wet kitten food with kitten formula such as KMR to make a mush the consistency of oatmeal. Over the next two weeks, gradually increase the amount of wet kitten food and decrease the amount of water and KMR you use until she is eating the wet kitten food only. You can also do this with dry kitten food, only soak the dry kitten food in water first before mixing it with the kitten formula.

I could use some help figuring out the aprox age of these kittens so I know how often to feed them formula and when to start weaning them. The third kitten also has some potential blindness issues and there may be eye infections in all three of them?
Usually the teeth help us decide how old a kitten is but I'd estimate them to be ~5 weeks old. If they have teeth you can offer wet kitten food (free choice/out all the time) and water for now until you see your veterinarian Thursday At this time keep their eyes clean by wiping away any discharge with a warm moist washcloth until your veterinarian can take a close look at them.

Yes you are correct about your thoughts. It does hurt when they nurse now with their little teeth, and after three weeks they are old enough to start eating solid food. I’m glad you are starting to feed them. You can give wet kitten food now four times daily and add warm water to it to make it very wet. Usually having them lick it off your finger by the dish will teach them to eat. Just let the Mom go in and out as she wants and she’ll gradually wean them herself. At 5 weeks Baby should be old enough to start eating some solid food. You can try mixing some canned kitten food with some kitten formula like KMR and putting it in a shallow dish. If she still won’t eat I would recommend seeing a veterinarian to determine what might be wrong. They can also teach you how to tube feed if necessary.
