My puppy has a beef allergy and eats paint chips. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cane Corso | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 4 days old | 54 lbs

1. It has been confirmed and verifies that Dante has an food allergy from beef whether its boiled or raw. Is it normal in puppies? 2. He is scratching the wall of his house. Peel off pieces of oil paint were observed in his stool. We noticed deep scratches on the cemented plaster on the wall. What should we do fot it?

Food allergies can happen, but they are less likely to occur until your dog is older. That said, if your vet has confirmed the allergy, it is best to follow their instructions so that Dante can feel better. If the paint is peeling from his kennel, it is best to either get a new one that has pet-safe paint or can't be chipped off, or to remove him form the kennel and repaint it using safe paints that are new and won't peel or chip. If he is eating the paint chips, it could make him very ill or be toxic.
