My cat has FeLV, but is always hungry and thirsty. Is this normal?

He was diagnosed with feline leukemia (snap test) back in October after being exposed to kittens that tested positive for the virus. Is it normal for him to have an big appetite? Hes always hungry and thirsty too. He has never showed any symptoms besides gingivitis and is doing good but he does use the litter alot. I had him for 7 months ever since he was diagnosed and he is still doing well. Is it possible he could've been misdaignosed or is it possible he fought it off and is a carrier now. Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 8 lbs

I recommend to have a follow up test done to see if he was able to clear the virus. Without a follow up test, it's impossible to know what is happening in his body.
