Why is my male cat trying to mate with my pregnant female? Separate them?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed

my female cat is pregnant and i got another 2 male cats at home..which are siblings. The eldest male keep following the queen everywhere and tried to mate but stopped halfway and started to behave like sulking. May i know why it happen? Should i seperate the queen from males? Thank you

Hi and thanks for your request. Probably she is not accepting the male as she is not in heat or she is already pregnant. As said in a previous question, I would recommend to separate them as you suggested or castrate the males to avoid further unwanted pregnancies.
