Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Oreo. Give her a tablespoon of canned pumpkin pureee (not pumpkin pie filling) with each meal to see if that helps. Also feed her canned food and add water to it. If these things do not help, you will have to have her seen by a vet. Best of luck.

My dog is 10yrs & is having problem trying to poop won't eat just drinking water, ate a little bit yesterday nothing today. What can I do to help him have a bowel movement?
Constipation can be caused by anal sac impaction, enlarged prostate gland, intestinal parasites, a foreign body, too little fiber in the diet, lack of exercise, or even tumors in the GI tract. I recommend giving him a tablespoon of canned pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling) mixed in with his food to see if that helps. You can mix it in with some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice if he is refusing to eat his normal diet. Another option is to give him a teaspoon of mineral oil or olive oil. If he is still constipated in 24-48 hours, he will need to see a vet as he will likely need a laxative or an enema. Your vet can diagnose the cause of the constipation as well.

If your dog is truly constipated you can try adding a couple of tablespoons of canned pumpkin to her meals and see if that helps get things moving. However, be advised that oftentimes owners think their dog is constipsted when in reality it is having diarrhea which makes it look like the dog is straining. Best thing for constaption
It really depends on the type of animal. If this is for a dog or cat you can give a small amount of puréed pumpkin twice a day to see if this helps. For small dogs/cats I would start with only 1/4 teaspoon twice a day. For larger dogs you can give 1 teaspoon twice a day. If the constipation continues I would talk to your vet about stronger stool softeners. You could start giving her 2 tablespoons of canned pumpkin with her meals which may help with cases of mild constipation. Hi, and thanks for your question. Mild constipation that lasts no more than two days can usually be resolved at home with increased fiber and hydration. Canned pumpkin (not pie filling, just the straight-up pumpkin) or liquid paraffin can be used, and should work straight away in the following 8 hours from administration. DO NOT TRY to give an enema as it could be dangerous and cause electrolyte imbalances and colon perforation. If constipation lasts more than 24 hours from administration of those or 48 hours in general, a check up at your local vet is required. My dog is having some hard time to poop. What are the foods that can help him? I heard that adding salt in his drinking water would help him.. please advise me
I would definitely not add salt as this can cause him to have salt poisoning and subsequent neurological problems. I would suggest adding 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) to his food daily which will add fiber and hopefully allow him to go #2 a bit easier. If he is still having issues then I would have his prostate examined to check if it is enlarged and possible the underlying problem as to why he can't go easily. An enlarged prostate will push up on the colon, making the hole narrower so that poop can't easily pass through. The cure for this is to have him on a laxative through your vet and ultimately getting him neutered can resolve this issue for good. I hope everything works out for your pet Kitty. Take care.
