My puppy is sick, not eating or drinking. When should I see a vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 9 months and 16 days old | 30 lbs

My Raggle she is definitely not feeling well. She has lots of but sounds, and she walks around with her tail tucked. I'm thinking she has eaten something that of course she shouldn't have. She is still a puppy, She isn't eating or drinking anything yet. I am keeping a close eye on her.

Poor Cricket. I agree that she does sound sick. What concerns me most is that she isn't eating or drinking. Offer her some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice. If she refuses to eat this, have her seen by a vet.

I would recommend getting her checked by a vet since she is so small. This will eliminate the risk of dehydration and check for a viral infection vs something she ate. If that is not possible then take the food and water away to let her stomach rest for a few hours. You can introduce pedialyte or Gatorade and boiled chicken and rice to start and see how she handles that until you can get her seen

Hello. I am sorry to hear that Sugar is feeling so sick. When a puppy is lying around, not eating or drinking they are usually very ill. This may be either an infection (like Parvo), a problem she was born with (a congenital problem), or possibly something she ate or got into. I understand you are short on finances. Please offer Sugar some baby food directly into her mouth. If she will not take baby food from you and has not eaten all day her blood sugar may get dangerously low. You should see if she can lick up a small amount of karo syrup to try and increase her blood sugar level. If at all possible I would get her to an emergency veterinarian tonight to have her assessed. At least an exam can give you a lot of information about her vitals and they can lead you in the right direction to try and get her better. I hope the best for her.

Hello... My 6 month old schnauzer seems to be sick... Shes usually very playful but she hasn't been herself. She wont eat much or drink much we are drying to get Pedialyte in her... But its tough. Please help.
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Angel. I recommend that she sees a veterinarian today. Her symptoms are worrisome. Puppies should be very playful. She will become dehydrated from not eating and drinking properly. This can occur even with some Pedialyte. She will be examined and a detailed history taken to try to determine the cause of her symptoms. Testing may be recommended depending on these findings. Once a diagnosis can be reached, treatment will be started. I hope this information helps!

My dog was sick for two days. Not eating, just drinking water, sleeping all day. Then she started to eat but I'm still worried that there is something wrong
Hi there! Sorry to hear that Harley is not feeling well. The clinical signs you describe are concerning when they occur in a puppy as they can be seen with serious gastrointestinal infections such as Parvovirus. Other possibilities include intestinal worms and dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. The sooner these conditions are treated the better the outcome tends to be. For this reason, I recommend that you have Harley evaluated by your veterinarian to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings. At the very least they can address dehydration if present and start her on medications to make her feel better. Good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed for your girl!

My dog don't want to eat much and she don't want to drink
Sorry that she is having this problem. It is concerning that she won't eat or drink and she could have an infection, parasite, endocrine disease, pancreatitis, liver/kidney disease, etc. You could offer her some boiled chicken and white rice and see if she will eat. If not, have your vet examine her to determne the cause and treat. She may need an antibiotic and fluids. Hope she feels better soon!

I would try feeding her boiled chicken, hamburger, or turkey and rice. You can also try feeding her things like scrambled eggs, low-fat cottage cheese, or chicken baby food. The other thing I would try is buying some canned puppy food for her and adding warm water to it to make it into a soup for her. Anything you can add some water to will help to keep her somewhat hydrated. You can also offer her low-sodium chicken broth for some fluids.

I recently adopted a puppy to train as my service companion, this morning she was feeling alittle under the weather had thrown up alittle clear liquid and grass but she was still playing and being her silly self so I didn't worry just figured she ate
It is very concerning that Rozwell doesn't want to eat or drink. Offer her some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts. If she refuses to eat that, take her into the vet as soon as they open in the morning.

My dog has not been eating or drinking water today. She went to puppy kindergarden and played with other dogs. She does not have all her vaccinations. She ate some food that was there but when she came home she also ate. Today she has not touched her
Oh no, poor Pixie! It's very concerning that she hasn't been eating and drinking as well as not being fully vaccinated. There is alway a chance that she picked up an illness from another dog. When a young puppy isn't eating, it's time to see a vet as soon as possible. If Pixie still isn't eating and drinking by the morning, take her into a vet right away. Tonight, try to tempt her to eat with some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice.

This can be a sign that Daisy is sick. I would try to tempt her to eat by offering some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice. If she refuses to eat that and is still acting this way in the morning, I would take her into the vet for a health check. If she starts vomiting, has diarrhea, and/or becomes very lethargic, then I would rush her into an ER vet. Best of luck.
