My cat limps and has diarrhea after being stepped on. Is it serious?

Hello, I have a 5 month old Sphynx cat. Last night I accidentally stepped on her (she was curled up in a blanket on the floor). She has a slight limp with her front right leg. She doesn't have a fever as far as I can tell, she did have diarrhea today (no blood). Could the diarrhea be a consequence of me stepping on her and rupturing an organ or from pain? Or is it likely unrelated and I'm overreacting? She does tend to eat anything she can find. There is no swelling as far as I can tell. Thanks!

Poor Leela. She will be in pain if she's limping, and unfortunately there are no OTC pain medications you can give her. Many are toxic for cats, and are fatal if given. The diarrhea likely isn't related to the pain. Have her seen by a vet in the morning for both of these problems.

Hello Anisa! Limping means he is in pain, and pain could make him lethargic as well. Unfortunately there are no OTC pain medications you can give him, as many human ones are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. I think you should take him into the vet first thing in the morning. The vet can diagnose why he is in pain, and can treat him. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Vomiting and diarrhea can occur secondary to conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, dietary indiscretion, parasites, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Gracie evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. At the very least they can start her on medications to make her feel better and check her hydration status. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration. Lameness can be a sign of a few things that range from a muscle sprain to even a fracture. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian so that this can be further assessed which will likely include radiographs. Treatment will be dependent on findings though at the very least pain control medications can be prescribed. Good luck and have a good day!

I have two cats who are limping. Both are lethargic, and won’t eat.
Limping means they are in pain, and pain would cause them to be lethargic and not eating. Unfortunately there are no OTC pain relievers you can give them. Many human ones are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. I'd take them into a vet today.

There is nothing that can done at home in this case, I'm sorry. Leo is obviously in a lot of pain, and there are no OTC pain medications for cats. Many human ones are toxic to cats, and are fatal if given. Plus he has a fever, and it's extremely serious he won't. The best thing for him is to find the closest vet to you, and get him there now.

My cat is lethargic, limping and just threw up. Please help!
Due to the large number of symptoms your cat is experiencing (lethargy, limp and vomiting) it is best to schedule an appointment with your local veterinarian for care. It is possible that the limp may be caused by an injury that is causing pain and or nausea in your cat, leading to the lethargy and vomiting. Pets in a lot of pain may refuse to eat, and thus not get enough energy, or may become nauseated or vomit up their food. Addressing the underlying problem (in this case, possibly the limp) can help improve overall symptoms. Feeding a bland diet of warmed up boiled chicken or turkey may also encourage your cat to eat some, getting his energy levels up and helping him to keep food down. Until you can be seen by the vet, be sure to keep your cat quiet and calm and restrict activity. This will help prevent further injury to the affected limb and may help to relieve some pain or nausea related. Once your vet has taken a look at the limp and other symptoms, they can then provide you w

Last night my cat was alright but in the morning she was limping a little then she had her lunch but tonight she was unable to stand she was not giving weight to front legs and when i tried to gibe her pain killer blood started coming from her mouth.
I would recommend that Emi be evaluated by a vet immediately. Bleeding from the mouth is never normal. It can be caused by a wound, ulceration, internal damage from trauma, bleeding or clotting disorders, among a few other things. I am not sure what could cause the issues in her front legs, but it could be caused by neurologic disease, trauma, or extreme lethargy. If the pain medication was not specifically prescribed for Emi, I would not recommend giving it to her. Some pet prescription pain medications can make intestinal bleeding much worse. There are no safe OTC human pain medications that are safe in cats.

I'm sorry Luna is in pain and limping! Yes, you are correct she could have slipped on the wet floor causing the limping. I would rest her for the next couple of days. Keep her confined to a small room (be sure to put a litter box, food, and water in with her) so she doesn't move as much, and do not allow her outside if she is normally allowed outside. Monitor her, and if she is still limping by Monday, I would take her into the vet for a health check. It's very important not to give her any human pain medications. Many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. The vet can prescribe her pain medication as needed.

My cat hasn't been eating and has been severely limping
As your cat hasn't been eating and is limping it is best to schedule a veterinary appointment ASAP. The limp could be caused by a number of things including injury to the leg, such as a break or sprain, wound or infection from a bite or scratch, or muscle or nerve damage. If the limb is hurt severely enough or if infection is present it may make your cat not want to eat. Until you can get to the vet, limit all activity to prevent further injury to the limb, and try to entice eating by warming up some wet food or adding some warmed boiled chicken to your cat's food. However it is necessary to schedule a vet appointment ASAP.

Based on the information you have provided, and the attached pictures, I am also very concerned that Sprinkles may have sustained significant trauma, causing her to be non-weightbearing lame on her left hind leg. Whether she was hit by a car or potentially fell and injured her leg, it sounds like she is in a significant amount of pain. She also looks like she has abraded skin (a wound) on that leg as well, which is at risk of becoming infected. I recommend having her seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible to have her injuries addressed. He/she will perform a full physical exam to localize her pain and determine if she has other, more life-threatening injuries such as damage to her chest or abdomen. X-rays may be indicated if a fracture is suspected. Ultimately, pain medication and antibiotics can be prescribed to help ease her pain and prevent infection. My cat is limping. She did a running jump onto a stool. She’s eating, going to the bathroom just not playing as she normally did.
Poor S’mores. She hopefully just has a soft tissue injury. I would confined her and restrict her activity (no jumping, running or playing) for a few days. If she isn’t improving, the leg is swollen or hot, or if she isn’t putting any weight on the leg then I would have your vet take a look at her. Ypur vet will be able to determine the cause of the limp and do X-rays if needed to ensure there are no broken bones. Your vet will also be able to provide some pain meds to help her feel better. I do not recommend giving any human pain meds as most of these are toxic to cats. I hope this helps!
